About Breakpoint Gallery

BreakPoint Gallery (& BreakPoint Underground) is the collaborative brainchild of American artist and entrepreneur Michael LaBelle, (a/k/a Mikel) and his artist friends. First conceptualized in 2000, when the artist shared a space in Provincetown with Romanian artist Stefan Crisan, a gallery was open in the Spring of 2001 in Provincetown, MA that introduced groundbreaking original art from passionately committed artists from Cape Cod and Eastern Europe, where LaBelle has traveled extensively.

*This year, starting in June 2012, Breakpoint will focus on the works of Ray Nolin, a student of Malicoat and Hensche, as well as the originals and prints from a collection of Ada Rayner paintings, Henshce's British born first wife, amongst others of the period, including several by Hensche himself.

**Image on this page if from a poster/postcard Mikel created when the gallery first opened in May of 2001 as location was opposite a popular cruising area (late nite) on the water under a boat rental pier across the street, locally known as the "dick dock." Mikel, sensing the end of an era, went down there one night with a black and white flash camera and caught a shot that will be forever memorialized in this card with the caption: Welcome to Provincetown; Home of the World's Only Salt Water Bathhouse!"
